Letter, 22 Jul 1776.
Sent to Lt Gen Colin Campbell when Lieutenant of the 55th Regiment of Foot in America from his father John Campbell, First Cashier of the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Letter complains about the problems of getting post to his son and congratulates Maj Mungo Campbell on his promotion to Col which may mean promotion for Colin as he is the oldest Lieutenant, he asks Colin to apply to Col Campbell for money as he has no other way of financing him and whether Colin has returned from the Gulph [sic] of St Lawrence.
