Description
Allied Victory Medal 1914-19. From medal group awarded to 6280382 Sergeant John Matthew Richards, 1st Bn, The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) and 18th Hussars. This medal has a double rainbow ribbon starting with purple at the edges and changing to blue, green, yellow and finally red in the centre. The obverse shows the figure of Victory standing with her right arm stretched outwards and a palm leaf in her left hand. The reverse reads 'THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILISATION 1914-1919’ enclosed within a wreath. The service number, rank, name and regiment of Sergeant Richards is inscribed on the rim. Associated with World War One (1914-1918). From the collection of the former Buffs Regimental Museum.
