Description
Copy of a memorandum from Lord Chelmsford dated 19 December 1878, outlining the military organisation of the four columns on the border with Zululand, and the current situation. A postcript is added by Sir Bartle Frere endorsing Chelmsford’s appointment, dated 21 December 1878. From papers and maps relating to the service in South Africa of Col Charles Knight Pearson prior to and during the Zulu War (1879).
