Sheath for knife, 1900 (c)-1915 (c). Belonged to Lt Col George Allen Preston. Probably from Central Africa. Outer surface of thick cream parchment, decorated with fine, brown thongs. Back of scabbard made of brown leather; edges sewn with yellow thongs. Further, stiff, inner plate of parchment. Stone illustrates a similar specimen, which he attributes to Central Africa. Associated with 40th Pathans and 6th Gurkha Rifles.
