Description

Photograph bearing the caption, 364793 2/Lieutenant - Black Watch April 1946 10th Bn. (Training) Pinefield Camp, Elgin. Accompanying note depicts an Officer’s bonnet and red tackle, with a walking-stick carried by Highland Regiment officers as opposed to he swagger-stick of English regiments in the photograph. It greatly amused the Greeks to see the 19 year olds with walking-sticks, as in Greece these were only used by venerable old men. From a group of 9 photographs collected by Capt Colin Ian McIntyre, Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment), 1945-1948. Captain McIntyre later joined the Territorial Army in 1950 (c) as Staff captain with the 47th (London) Brigade H. Q. at Duke of York’s Barracks, Chelsea. He subsequently became DAA and Quarter Master General and a Major, and thus held a commission from both the King and the Queen.
