One of four manuscript letters written from Lt John Johnstone Mackay to his brother David, 1832-1841. From a collection of papers relating to Lt John Johnstone Mackay, 32nd Bengal Native Infantry, Interpreter and Quarter Master 5th Bengal Light Cavalry, killed near Kabul 13 Jan 1842. Associated with the 1st Afghan War (1838-1842).
