Description
Manuscript letter, dated 21 Nov 1900. Written by Pte Harry Thurston during his service in the Boer War with 2nd Bn King’s (Shropshire Light Infantry) to his friend Arthur from Belfast in the Transvaal. He describes the battalion’s casualties at Komati River on 8 Nov 1900, and his disgust at the way the Government lied about events in South Africa. Associated with the Boer War (1899-1902).
