A friend in need is a friend indeed. Manuscript memoir by Pte Herbert G Newling, 2/7th Middlesex Regiment, describing an incident in Cairo involving a Cpl Herbert Perkins, whose wife was terminally ill, and an un-named Australian soldier who gave him £40 to travel to England to be with her, nd, 1960s (c). Associated with World War One, Egypt and Palestine (1914-1918).
