Description
One page manuscript letter from Lt. Heyworth Potter Lawrence Heyworth, 2nd Btn. North Staffordshire Regiment, to his sister Winnie Kennard. It was written from Johannesburg, South Africa, and is dated 25 September 1900. Heyworth, known as Lawrence, is in charge of guarding Boer prisoners. He fears that he might be in South Africa for 2 or 3 years. From a collection of seven letters written during the Boer War by Lt. H P L Heyworth, 2nd Btn. North Staffordshire Regiment, to his sister Winnie, 1900-1902. Heyworth, later a Captain, was Killed in Action on 6th August 1915, in the Dardenelles Campaign. Associated with the Boer War (1899-1902).
