Description
Envelope and letter, Jan 1942. Sent by his mother to Driver Hubert O Hubbard, 65th Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery; franked 5d x 3 cancelled ‘NORWICH’ with boxed, ‘IT IS REGRETTED THAT / THIS ITEM COULD NOT BE / DELIVERED BECAUSE THE / ADRESSEE IS REPORTED / PRISONER OF WAR’, complete with OHMS ‘Returned Postal Packet’ with fine, ‘ARMY POST OFFICE’ in vertical bars. Hubberd served in the Middle East, was captured and held as a prisoner of war in Germany.
