Description
Medal commemorating the centenary of the saving of Queen’s colour of the 24th (2nd Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot at the Battle of Isandlwana, 1979. Silver. Relief design within a raised rim on both sides. Obverse: At the centre a Union flag on a stave, superimposed upon which is a Zulu shield and assegai, a rifle with fixed bayonet superimposed thereon. Reverse: A depiction of Lt Teignmouth Melvill and Lt Nevill Josiah Aylmer Coghill, both mounted, one carrying a colour, fighting off two attacking Zulu warriors. Associated with Battle of Isandlwana (1879), Zulu War (1879).
