Two letters from General Severne to the Right-Honourable John Irwin, Commander-in-Chief, Army, asking permission to have a harp and crown badge and motto, ‘Pristinae Virtutis Memores’ for his regiment to go with the Cross belts, 22 Oct 1776; from papers of General John Severne, 8th Hussars, relating to the regiment 1759-1787.
