One of seventy two manuscript letters written by Lt John Henry Bryce, Bengal Artillery to his family, whilst en route to and then serving in India between 15 Sep 1852 and 23 Jul 1856.
The letters contain useful detail about living conditions, climate, duties of officers and leisure, as well as a little operational material on the North West Frontier near Kohat.
From a collection of 94 letters written by and sent to Lt John Henry Bryce, Bengal Artillery, between 1850 to 1857, as well as educational and other ephemera and a letter awarding the Indian Mutiny Medal with Lucknow clasp.
