Lett’s No 36 Rough Diary, 1882. Used by Birdwood whilst at school in Clifton College and on holidays in Narberth. From a collection of 1414 papers of FM William, Lord Birdwood, relating chiefly to his career in the Indian Army, 1882-1930. Birdwood participated in all sports, worked hard at his studies and came top of the Sergeant’s exam held amongst the school’s Cadet Corps. Until August he listed his daily expenditure and income.
