Sent from Capt Dug Campbell, Glenorchy Company, 5th Bn Argyllshire Volunteers, at Achlian to Major John Campbell, in command of the 5th Bn Argyllshire Volunteers at St James Square, Edinburgh.
John was the brother of Lt Gen Colin Campbell, Lt Governor of Gibraltar, 1754-1814.
Letter discusses the fact that the 5th Bn have not been on active service, the only company of all the volunteer corps in Scotland not to do so and discusses the eagerness of the troops to go.
