Grave marker of Lance-corporal Mark Read, ‘A’ Squadron, 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), Italy, 1943. Photograph: Mark Read's grave. Shows a white wooden grave marker in a field, inscribed, 'R.I.P/ L.CPL M READ 7911640/ 3 COUNTY OF LONDON YEOMANRY/ KILLED/ IN/ ACTION/ 5.10.43'. Lance-corporal Mark Read was killed in action on 5 October 1943, in the Termoli area. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission records his burial at the Sangro River War Cemetery. Photograph from an album containing 242 photographs compiled by Maj Wilfred Herbert James Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), 1943-1944.
