Located in the Marunouchi business district of Tokyo, near the Imperial Palace grounds and the Ginza commercial district, Tokyo Station was designed by architect Tatsuno Kingo to celebrate Japan’s victory in the Russo-Japanese War. It was opened in December 1914. Lots of vehicles - trams, buses and cars - can be seen in front of the large grand station. From a collection of 40 loose items, mainly photographs but also a few postcards and envelopes, compiled by Col. William Frederick Blaker (1877-1933), Royal Artillery, and associated with China and Japan, 1927-1929 (c).
