Sent from Lt Col Graham to John Campbell, Major of 5th Bn Argyllshire Volunteers at St James Square, Edinburgh, 2 Mar 1805. John Campbell is the elder brother of Lt Gen Colin Campbell, Lt Governor of Gibraltar, 1754-1814.
Letter informs him it is impossible to antedate commissions and discusses Campbell’s recommendation of Lt McIntyre to act as paymaster to the Argyllshire Volunteers for their time on permanent duty. Also discusses the duties of a Paymaster.
