Letter from Lt Col Standish O’Grady to his father the 1st Viscount Guillamore, dated Fleuri sur Andelle, 16 Sep 1815. In this letter O’Grady reports that his regiment is likely to remain in France for at least another 18 months, and that he had been prevented from taking leave back to England due a senior officer’s visit. He complains that the area where the regiment is billeted is dull and not, with no distractions to speak of. He notes that the Army is all to receive medals for Waterloo, but suggests that there should also be one for the Peninsular campaign, as some units were posted to America in 2014. As usual he complains that he does not receive enough letters from the family. Typed transcript in separate folder. From a collection of 45 letters associated with Lt Col Standish O’Grady, later 2nd Viscount Guillamore 1813-1830.
