Description
Photograph of the 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards, providing the Guard of Honour as His Excellency Sir Miles Lampson, High Commissioner, leaves Egypt for some leave in the UK. It shows members of the regiment standing in a long line wearing light-coloured tunic and trousers with Slade-Wallace webbing equipment and pith helmets. The Colour is upheld by one soldier. A crowd of onlookers can be seen in the background, watching from in front of some buildings. From an album containing 90 photographs compiled and presented by Lt-Col J R S Besly, Grenadier Guards, entitled: ‘Egypt 1936’, but covering the 2nd Battalion during 1935-1937.
