Letter from Lt Henry Clifford of the Rifle Brigade to his father received 28 Nov 1852. He describes the punitive expedition of 9-11 August 1852 against the Kreli and Gcalekas, who did not put up much resistance but of whom 30-40 were slaughtered without mercy by the Dutch and the Fingo native levies.
