This medal is attached to a dark red / burgundy ribbon with two dark blue stripes at the sides and a thin, white band in the centre of the blue stripes. It has a ring suspender. The obverse depicts the side profile busts of King George V and Queen Mary wearing crowns and robes. Inscribed on the perimeter reads 'GEORGE. V. AND. QUEEN. MARY. MAY. VI/ MCMXXXV.' On the right hand side of the medal towards the bottom there are the initials 'WG' the hallmark of William Goscombe John. The reverse shows the royal cypher 'GRI' with a crown above the 'R'. Either side of the cypher are the dates 'MAY 6 1910' (left) and 'MAY 6 1935' (right). These dates represent when George V succeeded his father to the throne, and the date of his silver jubilee.
