Description

Houghton and Gunn's Diary for 1903 used by Lt Henry Morris Pryce-Jones, Coldstream Guards. Pryce-Jones did regimental duty at Ramillies Barracks, Aldershot. He attended an intensive signalling course and qualified as a Signalling Instructor. He did field training with his battalion, then had leave in Ireland. He applied, and was accepted, for service in Northern Nigeria, seconded to the West African Frontier Force. This was to enable him to save enough money to be able to marry Vera Dawnay. He attended a Musketry Course followed by public duties. He ends the diary by declaring his love for Vera Dawnay, the daughter of his Commanding Officer.
