Chiefly filled with lists of food rations along with Heath’s accounts for the period Oct 1884 to Jul 1885.
Relates the result of the ‘race’ up the Nile to relieve Gordon, organised by Wolseley.
At the front and back of the book are two pencil drawings of Egyptian topography and one page of sketches of soldiers heads.
From a collection of a paybook and three notebooks of Sgt Harry Heath, 50th Regiment of Foot and 46th Infantry Brigade, 1880-1885.
Heath served in Egypt and Sudan 1882-1885 and was apparently killed in 1885.
