Description
Letter from Major Edward Lake to Wilkie, Dhumsalla, 17th May 1858, saying he has heard demi-officially that Wilkie will be left where he is. Also sends tea and names of five officers for reference (Captains Fraser, Dalgleish, Dallas, Stothart, Paine). Includes the original letter and a typescript copy of the letter. From correspondence and other papers of Colonel David Wilkie, 4th Bengal Native Infantry, mostly relating to the Indian Mutiny (1857-1859).
