Description

Letter from Lt Col Standish O’Grady to his father the 1st Viscount Guillamore, dated Etaples, 27 February 1816. This letter is mostly about the Viscount’s difficulties in filling a judicial office back in Ireland. He expects to be be able to return to the regimental depot in England shortly from where he can get leave to visit the family. He also mentions it is the anniversary of the Battle of Orthes. Typed transcript in separate folder. From a collection of 45 letters associated with Lt Col Standish O’Grady, later 2nd Viscount Guillamore 1813-1830. These letters include those written whilst serving as a Lieutenant with the 7th Light Dragoons in the Peninsular War and at Waterloo, 1815-1830. With manuscript and typescript transcripts. Associated with the Battle of Orthez, Peninsular War (1808-1814) 1814 and Napoleonic Wars (1803-1815).
