Letter from Percy Day to his mother, Coronation Hotel, Leewuyn Street, Cape Town, 18 Nov 1902. Day writes that the hotel is as bad as the previous one so he will move soon. He is not enjoying his job, he has sustained an industrial injury but was stopped two days wages. He writes that he can hear 18 boats on the way out with indulgence passengers, he doesn’t know what they will do without a trade and they’re just driving the wages down.
