Letter from Lt Henry Clifford of the Rifle Brigade to his father dated Fort Beaufort 10 Feb 1853. His affection for Lily. “I think the War is quite over, bands of Hottentots & Kaffirs keep prowling about the Country, but take good care to avoid the Troops.” Associated with the 8th Cape Frontier War (1850-1853).
