Belonged to Lt Col George Allen Preston, who may have acquired them while in Mesopotamia, World War One, or while at Kars, 1919.
Usual type, double edged blade, with fuller on either side.
Dark brown horn grip, with two half-spherical rivet heads on one side and another of lenticular shape.
Metal ferrule and strap over outer face of pommel, both made of white metal, possibly low grade silver, with incised decoration at the front and chern (black).
Associated with 40th Pathans and 6th Gurkha Rifles, World War One, Eastern Front and Mesopotamia (1914-1918).
