Manuscript letter to Mrs Bourne from Capt Dennis Herbert James Ely in Durham, 16th Bn Durham Light Infantry, nd (Mar 1915 (c)); he thanks her for a parcel and advises that he will write later as he is suffering from the effects of inoculations and flu; Ely was killed in action at Fricourt, 2 Jul 1916.
