Description
Commission signed by Sir Hugh Gough as C-in-C East Indies, Camp Gwalior, 9 Jan 1844. Appoints G H Davidson as an ensign in the Queen’s Army, effective from 10 Jun 1843, for as long as he should hold a commission in the East India Company’s army. From a collection of letters and papers of and relating to Lt Gordon Hugh Davidson, 1st Bengal European Light Infantry, 1841-1852. Lt Davidson was killed at the Battle of Sobraon, during the 1st Sikh War, 10 Feb 1846. Plus transcripts.
