Photograph of Assistant Adjutant General with Provost-Marshal and Staff, 1878-1880. From an album of 60 photographs by John Burke, 1878-1880. Associated with Maj Gen Frederick Sleigh Roberts, 2nd Afghan War (1878-1880). The Assistant Adjutant-General and Provost-Marshal were responsible for the administration and policing of the British and Indian troops serving in Afghanistan.
