Description
Diary of Hubert Conway Rees, 1 Feb to 14 Mar 1902. The entries open with him still at Beaufort West. Convoys in the area were attacked by the Boers, but he was not engaged himself, although he did go out with a cloumn on 10 Feb. On 29 Feb he reached Victoria Road, where he was again stationed on a blockhouse line. The entries become increasingly chronicles of his hunting activities, and they close with him expecting to be posted to the regiment's headquarters at Simonstown. From a collection of six diaries and 70 letters written by Hubert Conway Rees (1882-1948), 6 May 1901-14 Dec 1908; associated with the 3rd Bn East Surrey Regiment and 2nd Bn Welch Regiment, Boer War (1899-1902).
