Photograph showing three Maurice Farman Shorthorn training aircraft, one in flight from left to right and two, the tail of only one of which can be seen, standing
on a grass airfield with a row of trees in the background, 1917-1918 (c).
Morning or evening sunlight casts rays over the field.
Probably at a training airfield within a commandeered racecourse: see related photograph album.
From an album containing 96 photographs relating to Lt William Charles Carter who served in the Artists’ Rifles The London Regiment from 1913 and 13 Sqn Royal Flying Corps 1917-1918.
