Description
Soldier’s letter written by Pte John Barton, HM 29th Regiment of Foot, from Chinsura (Chinsurah) Barracks, Bengal, to his parents in Ireland, 29 Oct 1842. We have lost 71 men, 24 women and 22 children to disease in the last six weeks. John Mullins and James Porter are dead; let their friends know.
