Description
One page manuscript letter from Lt. Heyworth Potter Lawrence Heyworth, 98th Regiment (North Staffordshire Regiment), to his sister Winnie Kennard. It was written from Elandsfontein, South Africa, and is dated 22 January 1901. Heyworth, known as Lawrence, writes a short note to say the regiment is off to give the Boers the “final touch”, but hopes that this doesn’t involved several months of trekking after them. From a collection of seven letters written during the Boer War by Lt. H P L Heyworth, 2nd Btn. North Staffordshire Regiment, to his sister Winnie, 1900-1902. Heyworth, later a Captain, was Killed in Action on 6th August 1915, in the Dardenelles Campaign. Associated with the Boer War (1899-1902).
