Driver Frederick Luke VC, 37th Battery, Royal Field Artillery, cigarette card, 1915. One of nine cigarette cards from a series of 25, published by W D and H O Wills Ltd, Bristol, 1915. Associated with the Battle of Cateau, World War One, Western Front (1914-1918), 1914. Driver Frederick Luke, 37th Battery, Royal Field Artillery, won the Victoria Cross at Le Cateau on 26 August 1914. He was involved in recapturing a gun under heavy fire from Geman forces. Captain Douglas Reynolds and Driver Job Drain were also awarded the Victoria Cross for the action.
