Coloured photograph of painting of Thomas Henry Kavanagh being disguised as an Indian before setting out to guide the relief force into Lucknow, an act for which he was awarded the Victoria Cross. Associated with the Indian Mutiny (1857-1859). From a collection of ten coloured photographs by J Wilson of paintings by Chevalier Desanges.
