Description
Warrant, presumably addressed to J N Sargent, 4 Sep 1860. Sargent was commanding 1st Bn, the Buffs Regiment, China, 1860-1861. The warrant grants the right to assemble a Court Martial for the trial and punishment of any soldier of Her Majesty’s Forces. With seal. One of 19 items relating to Gen John Neptune Sargent, CB, 95th Regiment and 2nd and 1st Bns the Buffs Regiment, 1844-1864. Gen Sargent also served in 42nd Brigade Depot and 27th Foot, 1st Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, 1873 to 1893, in Hong Kong, China, Alma, Inkerman, the Siege of Sevastopol and Malta.
