Carbon copy of a manuscript report written by John Cochrane after visiting E Lamiral at Cherbourg and observing his submarine craft, dated 5 Mar 1855. From a collection of papers relating to the career of John Cochrane, engineer, with particular reference to his advisory role to the Crimean railway for the Board of Ordnance and consultation on the possible use of a submarine vehicle there devised by a Frenchman, E Lamiral and partner, 1854-1855. Associated with the Crimean War (1854-1856).
