Volume VI (Written in 1962) 1940-1941

Chapter 28. Staff-B.M. Kohat Bde - Ahmadzai Salient operations, 1940. Operations against the Faqir of Ipi in Jan-Feb, with road-building etc until withdrawn at the end of May. Leave in July in Kashmir, back at Kohat in August.

Chapter 29. Staff-Brigade Major, 15th Indian Infantry Brigade, at Secunderabad 1940-41. The Brigade was built up from scratch, training beginning in Jan 1941.

Chapter 30. Staff-B.M. 15th Ind Inf Bde in Malaya 1941. Mobilisation began in mid March, and the Brigade left Bombay for Penang on the "Felix Russell" - standing orders for the voyage included. Move to ipoh, part of 11 Ind Div, training (Manual included); May move to Sungei Patani. Exercises, jungle training - preparations for Japanese invasion. Alston left Penang Aug for India.
