Description
Ms letter written to Andrew Caldwell from Leghorn, December 19th 1782. Very bad passage from Gibralter to Leghorn, 6 weeks of storms and when they were in sight of land the ship ran into the rocks. He has to quarantine for 5 days before being allowed ashore in Leghorn. He had hoped to hear that Lord Howe had defeated the combined fleets but as usual it was a drawn battle.
