Description

Photograph showing a group of five uniformed unidentified airmen posing together on a wooden frame, 1917-1918 (c). Four men appear to be humorously idolising the central figure who may be the Commanding Officer in the centre, some pointing to him, kneeling on bended knee before him or gesturing. One man wears thigh length fur lined leather flying boots and another wears trousers and a Glengarry. Wooden duckboards lead to Nissen huts and wooden barrack blocks protected by sandbags in the backgroud. From an album containing 96 photographs relating to Lt William Charles Carter who served in the Artists’ Rifles The London Regiment from 1913 and 13 Sqn Royal Flying Corps 1917-1918.
