Collection of 13 manuscript and typescript letters relating to FM William Joseph Slim, 1st Viscount Slim, and Lt Gen Sir Reginald Arthur Savory; comprising 10 exchanged between Slim and Savory 1943-1967; two to Savory from Dan Munro, Cameron Highlanders, 24 Jun and 26 Aug 1945, and one to Savory from Gen Sir Frank Messervy, Jul 1967; kept together with two ts memos by Savory regarding Slim, the first, 20 Jan 1967 and the second, 28 Jul 1967 (there are two copies of each memo). Letters notably include one from Slim (then a Lt Gen) to Savory (then a Maj Gen) thanking him for his congratulations on the success of the 14th Army in their advance through the Arakan towards the River Chindwin, 17 Dec 1944, and another in which Slim informs Savory that he has been dismissed from the command of 14th Army, 16 May 1945.
