Description
Letter from Sir John Bennet Hearsey, 6th (The Prince of Wales') Regiment of Bengal Cavalry, Ramnugger, India, Gurkha War, 12 Apr 1815. Written to his mother and sister, describing how they attacked 400 of the enemy and killed or captured nearly half of them. Gives news of the Bradshaws and Salmon, and Hyder’s hopes of becoming a lieutenant; with typescript transcript. Associated with the Gurkha (Nepal) War (1814-1816).
