Description
Word-processed transcript of a letter to Pte John Henry Simpson, 1st Bn Duke of Cambridge’s Own (Middlesex Regiment), from Charles Bosanquet in Blackheath The letter probably dates from 1915-1916 (c). Mr Bosanquet writes that he is glad Pte Simpson is in a home billet, and hopes he doesn’t need to go abroad again. Maj Swainson has recovered from wounds received at the Battle of Loos but he has heard unofficially that Cpl Hughes may have been killed. Pte Simpson and Cpl (then Pte) Hughes had carried their son 2/Lt Sidney Courthope Bosanquet to safety but he died of his wounds in December 1914. Associated with World War One (1914-1918).
