Description
Lett’s No 35 Colonial Rough Diary, 1895. From a collection of 1414 papers of FM William, Lord Birdwood, relating chiefly to his career in the Indian Army, 1882-1930. Birdwood was stationed in Calcutta throughout 1895, apart from 5th April to 3rd December when he was at Dehra Dun. Militarily the year was uneventful and from October onwards entries become sparse. His daughter Constance was born on 5 October and on 12 December he broke his collar bone in a riding accident.
