From a collection of drawings and etchings by Lance Cattermole (1898-1992), 1926. Studies for a series of etchings commissioned by an Officer of the Scots Guards. According to Lance Cattermole, these watercolours were seen by Messrs John Player and Son at an exhibition at the Scots Guards HQ and led to the artist’s commission by that company to produce the designs for the cigarette card series, ‘Military Uniforms of the British Empire’.
