The image was given to Peter Dale Edwards, who served with the Royal Signals and Royal Army Service Corps, and also the Combined Services Entertainment (CSE). 

From a collection of 52 photographs relating to the service of Peter Dale Edwards, Royal Signals, Royal Army Service Corps and Combined Service Entertainment, 1940-1948. They include portraits of Edwards and his friends, and images from CSE and Entertainments National Service Association (ENSA) performances; associated with World War Two (1939-1945).
