Description
Draft MS letter, dated 1815, signed by Townshend and other Captains of the Guards, addressed to the Duke of York, complaining that their substantive ranks were not sufficient to admit them to ‘new orders of merit’, even though they had served as Lt Colonels during the Napoleonic Wars.
